Building Trust by Naming the Truth

Galina Yordanova

Galina Yordanova serves as Chief People Officer at Kingfluencers, Switzerland’s leading influencer marketing and social-media agency, where creator-driven storytelling helps brands build cultural relevance and measurable impact. She also serves as Chief People Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team at naoo, a Switzerland-based social media technology company focused on creator-led media, local commerce and digital-to-real-world engagement. Along with these roles, she is the Founder and Chief Awakening Officer of Awakenomy, a conscious business ecosystem dedicated to helping leaders and organisations cultivate greater consciousness, purpose and humanity in the workplace.

Her path runs from Bulgaria through the United States, Germany and Austria to Switzerland, across 15 years in human resources spanning more than 16 countries. She holds two bachelor’s degrees, two master’s degrees and an MBA in digital transformation and treats continuous learning as the skill that keeps a career from becoming obsolete.

Yordanova built her work on a conviction that unsettles much of her profession. Culture lives in daily behaviour, never in words on a wall. From retail leadership to the executive table, through an acquisition and a full change in management, she traded fear-based control for trust and gave people permission to name what others avoid. That philosophy and the stability it restored earn her recognition as Chief People Officer of the Year in Europe 2026.

The Human Foundation

At Kingfluencers, people and authenticity connect in ways that shape everything. Our success rests on something deeply human, on genuine connection and trust. The same principles that make influencer relationships work define how we build relationships within our own teams. Audiences recognise authenticity and employees do too.

A clear vision anchors that authenticity. When companies face an acquisition or external pressure, their vision blurs and people lose sight of what they stand for. A vision worth holding creates value for the world and solves real problems for real people. Profit follows as a side effect of that purpose.

People thrive when they experience trust, clarity and opportunity. Trust creates the safety to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions and learn from mistakes. Clarity connects daily work to a larger purpose. Opportunity opens the door to growth and ownership. Structures and systems matter and human relationships carry the real weight. It is why my work has increasingly centred on helping organisations cultivate organizational consciousness, helping leaders better understand how culture, behaviour and leadership shape the way people experience work every day.

Trust Where Fear Once Ruled

You cannot grow a company out of fear. Old operating models lean on control and hierarchy and they teach people to hide. Where failure looks dangerous, employees stop sharing what they see and the gap between words and actions widens. People sense that incongruence fast. They stop believing, stop contributing, stop evolving.

“ Leaders hold a delicate balance between stability and change, since too much of either drains a team. People need to know what stays constant when priorities shift. “

Growth requires experience, reflection and self-awareness. My work protects the conditions where people discover their own strengths, not a dependency that keeps them small. A healthy culture holds room for performance and personal growth at once.

Naming the Elephant in the Room

A people leader must tell the uncomfortable truth. Organisations rarely grow by avoiding hard conversations. They grow when leaders find the courage to acknowledge tension and name the elephant in the room. Human resources holds a rare position for this work. It can say things by their real name, carry a problem straight to a co-founder or a CEO and keep its eyes open.

Modern people work tasks more than administration and software. It asks you to read people and read the room, to sense who might disengage before they know it themselves. When a leadership team runs on burnout, someone has to see it and respond. A person with a broken leg does not run a marathon. The same holds for a mind under strain. Naming that reality protects everyone.

Helping a Culture Mature

My most meaningful work supported a culture through deep transformation. Kingfluencers grew organically as a startup, rich in creativity, energy and ambition. Rapid growth, leadership change and integration after the 2025 acquisition brought uncertainty and a loss of clarity. My aim held steady. I chose to help the culture mature and protect its strengths through the shift.

“ A people leader must tell the uncomfortable truth. Organisations rarely grow by avoiding hard conversations. They grow when leaders find the courage to acknowledge tension and name the elephant in the room. “

That work asked for leadership alignment, clearer communication, stronger decisions and honest conversation. Culture matures through consistent behaviour and shared ownership, not through programs alone. It now stands in a far stronger place, steadier and better aligned, its entrepreneurial spirit intact. Its next chapter builds on that stability and creates room for sustainable growth.

Technology Serves People

AI will reshape how organisations operate. Machines already handle the routine, the reporting and the administration and they should. A machine stays a tool, however advanced it becomes. It serves people toward a better purpose. Lean on it as the only truth and people become digital slaves of the new age, chasing machines instead of governing them.

Human consciousness grows more valuable as technology grows smarter. That is why I believe the future of work will be defined less by technological capability alone and more by our capacity to combine innovation with wisdom, purpose and conscious leadership. A tool cannot replicate lived experience, trust, empathy or courage. Companies that thrive will integrate innovation with human development. Technology accelerates performance and people create meaning, purpose and culture. My charge keeps organisations deeply human as they grow more digital. For me, this marks the beginning of what I call the Awakening Economy. Agile transformed how we work. The Creator Economy transformed who creates value. The Awakening Economy transforms how we work. It reflects a new corporate mindset where organisations are measured not only by financial performance, but by their ability to unlock human potential, foster conscious leadership, create meaningful impact and help people thrive in the age of AI.

Advice for People Leaders

Performance and well-being reinforce each other. Sustainable performance rests on healthy, engaged, supported people. Leaders hold a delicate balance between stability and change, since too much of either drains a team. People need to know what stays constant when priorities shift.

Find the guts to name what you see. Celebrate the small wins, because recognition anchors culture and reminds people that their work matters. Guard focus against constant distraction and bring a scattered team back to single-tasking. Leadership works as an act of service. It asks for courage to face hard truths, humility to keep learning and real care for people alongside People build culture, one honest conversation at a time. I don’t believe the future belongs to the organisations with the most advanced technology. I believe it belongs to those who can combine technology with wisdom, performance with purpose and innovation with human consciousness.” sound decisions. Organisations transform because their people transform.
