I am currently the Head of Learning and Organisational Development - APAC for Equifax, a global leader in data, analytics and technology. In this role, I lead the function in my region with a focus on leadership, skills development, career growth and culture.Integrating Local and Global Trends in Learning and Organisational DevelopmentWhen discussing trends relevant to learning and development, it's crucial to acknowledge the significant global shifts that are influencing the way we work. The emergence of AI, machine learning and big data will radically transform the way we work and operate and in many cases, this transformation is already underway. These technological advancements also present potential challenges to businesses from non-traditional competitors by reducing barriers to entry and potentially increasing competition.Throw into that mix the increasing globalisation of the workforce and it is evident we are in a period of intense change. Therefore, when we consider development, we must not only identify the skills that require investment from both individual and team perspectives but also pinpoint the organisational capabilities that need to be established or enhanced to maintain a competitive edge and allow the business to grow. This may require a delicate balancing act between addressing immediate needs and anticipating the requirements that will arise in 3-5 years and beyond. But ultimately, any strategy or focus area needs to demonstrate both individual and commercial value.Daniel Coutts
